Molecular Materials Informatics offers the Mobile Molecular DataSheet (MMDS), which provides chemistry functionality for ultraportable devices such as smartphones and tablets. There is now a growing ecosystem of mobile apps based on technology from MMDS, including MolSync, SAR Table, Reaction101, Yield101, MolPrime and Green Solvents and ChemSpider Mobile.

SAR Table

SAR Table is an editor for tables of structure-activity data, which includes Markush-style scaffolds, R-group style substituents, constructed molecules, activity/property data, and associated text and identifiers. The app is designed to minimise the amount of repetition required to recreate data from tables published in the literature, and also to expediate creation of tables for publication. Results can be converted to manuscript preparation formats, such as Microsoft Word or Excel, with embedded high quality vector graphics for structures.

MolSync

MolSync provides a chemically aware front end for cloud-based storage repositories, such as Dropbox. It is closely integrated with the Mobile Molecular DataSheet, and allows datasheets to be synchronised, shared between devices and colleagues, made publicly available via a browser or by tweeting directly from the app.

MMDS for iPhone OS

The iOS version of the Mobile Molecular DataSheet (MMDS) runs on all of the major mobile devices made by Apple, including the iPhone, iPod and iPad:

The interface is uniquely quick to learn, and makes full use of touchscreen gestures. Collections of molecular structures can be organised as datasheets, which can be viewed and edited from the main screen, along with structure templates. The molecular structure editor combines a powerful collection of structure editing primitives with the elegance of a touchscreen gesture-based interface. Molecular structures, and collections of structures, can be composed, organised and exported via email or using iTunes file sharing.

MMDS for BlackBerry

The BlackBerry version of the Mobile Molecular DataSheet (MMDS) is optimised for use with smartphones that use the trackpad interface, or touchscreens, or both:

Collections of molecular structures, and associated data, are organised in datasheets, which can be viewed and edited using a spreadsheet-like interface. Individual molecular structures can be edited using a sophisticated and innovative sketcher, which is designed to make optimal use of the limited resources available on smartphones. Publication-quality chemical diagrams can be drawn quickly, and shared with colleagues or centralised data sources via secure email, SD card file exchange, or the new webservices client.

Reaction101

Reaction101 is the first in a series of mini-apps with specific functionality oriented toward the educational market, which is the result of an ongoing collaboration with Eidogen-Sertanty. Reaction101 allows editing of a chemical reaction, consisting of reactants, products and reagents, which are defined by structures, names and stoichiometry.

Yield101

Yield101 is the second in a series of mini-apps with specific functionality oriented toward the educational market: it is the ideal companion app to Reaction101, adding features that are useful to a chemist at the lab bench. Yield101 allows quantity data to be entered, which it will use to fill in the missing values, such as mass, molar mass, volume, density, concentration and final yield.
